Vintage Scottish Silver Luckenbooth Necklace by John Fraser
A lovely 925 silver Luckenbooth pendant on a 925 silver necklace.
Luckenbooth’s originated in 16th Century Edinburgh. They were given as love tokens or lucky charms for warding off witches, and sold in the locked – or ‘lucken’ – booths near St Giles Cathedral on the Royal Mile.
It is signed to the rear by John Fraser if Inverness. It was assayed in Edinburgh in 1989
The pendant measures 15mm x 25mm, the necklace measures 48cm
